NEW NORFOLK COAL UNLOADER (TASMANIA)

Index    Structures

This photo set of the New Norfolk coal unloader was taken by Stuart Dix in December 2004.

This elevated unloading platform was constructed adjacent to the locomotive facilities in New Norfolk yard. The ramp was built in the early 1970 to allow delivery of coal for the local hospital to be made by bottom dump hopper wagon. This traffic ceased by the 1990s, and the track leading up to the ramp is now used by the Derwent Valley Railway for storing wagons
